POSITION OVERVIEW
We are looking for a motivated employee to assist us in performing installation, maintenance and repair of machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic systems, conveyor systems, production machines/equipment, and electrical systems in the food processing plant and other company owned facilities. Primary focus is electrical maintenance and special projects at our Hillsboro, OR manufacturing facility. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support all HACCP, Food Safety, Food Defense and Quality Assurance regulations and programs by supporting the efforts of the HACCP Committee and Quality Assurance Committee.
  • Follow all procedures, complete required reports/documents and follow up on all processes and projects assigned.
  • Performs duties as stated/assigned in the M-Pulse operating system.
  • Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as programmable controllers.
  • Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers, ballast and light fixtures, and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment, i.e. motor control centers, VFD’s, PLC’s.  Preferred to have Limited Manufacturing Electrician (LME) or Plant Journeyman certificate.
  • Responsible to complete assigned Special Projects, Tasks and Work Assignments, and Mechanical work.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of GMPs and Allergen programs, HACCP, Food Safety, Food Defense, Quality Assurance, Hazard Communication, Hearing Conservation, Lock-Out/Tag-Out, Forklift & Aerial Lift programs, Sanitation programs and all other relevant safety procedures. Participates in plant sanitation projects, mandatory training and overtime work.
 
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Experience: Three to five years related work experience, preferably in a food manufacturing environment and/or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Language skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Mathematical skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Certificates, licenses, registrations: Journeyman level mechanic, current driver's license with evidence of insurability, certified forklift and aerial lift operator. (Will be trained by Beaverton Foods in these lifts)
  • Other Qualifications: Thorough knowledge and ability to use a variety of hand tools and machine tools, knowledge of fire prevention practices and use of fire extinguishers and advanced knowledge of refrigeration, heating systems, and electrical components.
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Working in an office and manufacturing environment, this position will require extensive time sitting and viewing computer screens. 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is seldomly exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Noise level on the manufacturing floor is usually moderate.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, except at the glass stands, which require the use of hearing protection.
