OUR HISTORY
Located in SW Portland, Barbur World Foods has been serving customers since 2004. We provide our customers with both fresh produce, curated beer & wine selection, local meat & seafood, traditional Lebanese cuisine, international groceries and local culinary favorites from the Pacific North West.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Answer questions that are brought up by all customers and employees of the store to ensure customer needs are being met.
  • Provide secondary training and support to new employees.
  • Foster and maintain good relationships with customers, vendors, and the community at large.
  • Create, adjust, and manage all aspects of daily scheduling to ensure appropriate coverage, which includes calling off-schedule staff people to see if they can come in to provide coverage.
  • As needed / as directed, engage in buying and procurement activities for the store.
  • Manage the overall aesthetics, cleanliness and presentation of entire store to ensure it aligns with World Foods brand.
  • Ensure all departments are consistently meeting the merchandising standards as set forth by the General Manager.
  • Be aware of the daily employee schedule, and coordinate breaks and lunches while providing appropriate coverage for each position.
  • Create and manage a daily list of tasks, both general and specific, to be delegated to Grocery Clerks.
  • Understand all technology systems in the store and troubleshoot as necessary.         
  • In a timely and professional manner, provide recaps of the day’s events to General Manager.
  • Develop and maintain effective professional relationships with the General Manager, Director of Operations, and all department managers and staff.
  • Stay current on all trends and best practices as it relates to the food & grocery industries and apply that information to improve operations and customer service.   
  • Ensure that all health and safety certifications and requirements are up to date.
 
CAPABILITY REQUIREMENTS 
The following capabilities are required in order to perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations that do not create an undue burden on the company are available to address the following requirements.
  • Must be 21 years or age or older.
  • Have at least two years in a managerial position, preferably with retail experience. 
  • Have at least a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Associates degree in a related field preferred.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Must possess a valid Food Handlers’ card
  • Must be able to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and use fine motor skills to complete work related tasks.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, hand, or move items of up to 40 pounds.
