We seek an experience Registered Nurse to join our team. This is a multi-functional position, so the right candidate must thrive on variation (they will be working with different physicians and medical assistants). We need an RN who pays close attention to details, skilled in case management, can achieve quality (hedis) measures, can thoroughly follow assigned tasks and procedures, is forward-thinking, and who can effectively communicate and build strong relationships with staff, physicians, and patients.

the Registered Nurse will provide professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices.  Position facilitates the delivery of primary care to patients and manages the daily operation of the physician office practice.  As an RN, you will be expected to provide advocacy for patients.
  1. Clerical duties:
    1. Schedules and cancels same-day patient appointments using NextGen EPM
    2. Orders, prepares, and routs patient charts as needed
    3. Requests medical records from other facilities when required
    4. Files reports in the appropriate places in medical record.  Documents patient care appropriately in the electronic medical record
    5. Completely fills out the appropriate lab, x-ray, and referral forms
    6. Calls pharmacies or processes prescriptions electronically and provides patient instruction as directed by the physician
  2. Patient education and instruction:
    1. Triages patients over the phone.  Instructs patients in home care or makes appropriate appointment, and documents in the EMR
    2. Gives test results with additional instructions when indicated to patients as directed by the physician
    3. Arranges for patients to have outside testing and appointments when necessary
    4. Instructs patients in preparation for procedures
    5. Instructs patients for at home care, either verbally, with educational materials, or with instruction sheets.  Verifies patient understanding and documents in the EMR
    6. Directs patients to the ancillary testing areas within the clinic
  3. Rooms and prepares patients:
    1. Prepares exam room(s) with the needed equipment and materials
    2. Prepares the patient for the exam or procedure
    3. Assesses patient when in exam room by documenting current complaint
    4. If indicated by the exam or physician, obtains vital signs, height, weight, vision, smoking history, known allergies, current medications, or any other pertinent diagnostic, and a brief medical history
    5. Cleans exam room, changes, table paper, and cleans equipment after every patient
  4. Assigned nursing procedures:
    1. Performs nursing procedures for the comfort, privacy, and well-being of patients
    2. Administers medications, vaccinations, and injections as directed by a physician, noting the dose, manufacturer, lot number, and expiration date in patient record
    3. Carries out prescribed procedures, including catheterizations, IVs, suture removal, specimen collection, Una boot application, ear irrigations, and wound care and dressings as directed by the physician
    4. Applies orthopedic devices such as slings and splints of various types, ace bandages, dressing, etc.
    5. Assesses and triages “walk-in” patients
  5. Assembles equipment and assists physicians:
    1. Assists physicians in medical procedures and treatments, including pelvic and PAP smears, minor surgical procedures and biopsies, KOH and we mount specimen collections, flexible sigmoidoscopies, and exercise treadmills
    2. Assembles equipment required for various procedures
    3. Stocks room and area daily.
    4. Disposes of used single use pieces of equipment
    5. Contaminated instruments are properly stored, for Central Supply to retrieve and sterilize
  6. Departmental responsibilities:
    1. Attends and participates in department meetings and committees
    2. Maintains surrounding work area in a clean and orderly fashion
    3. Helps in the maintenance and stock of area supplies
    4. Checks crash carts, defibrillators, and oxygen tanks according to monthly rotations.  Stocks any medicals or oxygen used immediately
    5. Assists in the training and orientation of new employees
  7. Other duties as assigned-items listed is not all exclusive and other tasks may be assigned as needed
    1. Perform CLIA waived testing on HemoPoint H2  
    2. Perform CLIA waived testing on Lead Care II
    3. Performs Treadmill testing
    4. Provides patient education related to medications or medical condition
    5. Provides chart review and intervention on HEDIS and other quality measures
    6. Other tasks as needed/assigned
  • Current valid Oregon RN license.
  • Current valid CPR certification.
  • Requires full range of motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and Hand/eye coordination.
  • Involves standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires work under stressful conditions and working long.
  • Knowledge of biohazard precautions and the use of said precautions.
  • Requires organizations skills.
  • Risk of exposure to communicable diseases of bodily fluids.
