Title: Membership Associate
Reports to: Senior Director
Salary Range: $45,000 - $60,000
Status: Full-time Exempt
 

Job Description

The Member Associate works closely with the membership department to grow IEDCs member base and deliver a superior level of service to existing members. This position plays an integral role in membership retention through management of our membership database, provision of excellent customer service and general contribution to IEDC member satisfaction.

Areas of Responsibility
  • Member Retention
    • Manage monthly renewal process. This includes billing and invoice generation, mailing and emailing renewal notices, and following up by phone
    • Analyze member involvement with IEDC communications and event, identify members that require additional engagement points
    • Prompt and proactive engagement with IEDC members, helping to raise member retention rates year-over-year
    • Assist in developing and updating member retention process and generate new ideas in building member retention
  • Membership Billing and Payment Processing
    • Coordinate with IEDC accounting team to process credit card membership dues payments and facilitate check payments
    • Manage member billing records, including membership invoices, transfers, and credits
  • Database Maintenance
    • Assure the accurate and timely maintenance of member/non-member records, and track movement of members for the bi-weekly Member Update in ED Now
    • Design and run queries to track membership numbers and trends, create target lists for recruitment and provide tailored various lists from other staff requests
    • Ensure data quality with routine updates as needed
  • Job Board
    • Receive and process ads
    • Manage customer relationships related to the IEDC job board and RFP/RFQ process
    • Manage related accounts receivable
    • Work closely with the marketing team to ensure ads are posted properly
    • Ensure the program meets revenue goals
Primary Objectives
  • Grow membership by fostering engagement among existing members and recruiting non-members
  • Provide members and customers with superior customer service
  • Maintain database integrity through frequent record updates
  • Align membership activities to further support organization’s strategic goals
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • A minimum of one year of related experience in data analysis and data management positions
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask while maintaining careful attention to detail
  • Exceptional communication skills – presentation, verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision
  • Willingness to travel to a minimum of three events per year
  • Experience with a CSM, proficient in Microsoft Office and other online tools to ensure proper tracking and reporting
  • If not located within commuting distance of our Washington, DC office, must be located in the United States, have reliable access to dedicated high-quality internet service, and willing to accommodate on an Eastern U.S. schedule of operations. Occasional travel to the IEDC office may be required.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continually required to sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; talk or hear.  Rarely required to stand or walk for long hours.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, and reach with hands and arms.  Rarely required to kneel, crouch or crawl, climb or balance. Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 20 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
