Title: Marketing Associate, Content & Audience
Reports to: Vice President of Policy, Programs, & Communications
Salary Range: $45,000 - $60,000
Status: Full-time Exempt

Position Description
The Marketing Associate, Content & Audience, is responsible for the production of email content, email scheduling and strategy, data analytics and the production of other forms of communication that effectively promote IEDC’s products, services and thought leadership. The Marketing Associate, in collaboration with marketing team colleagues, is responsible for the maintenance and growth of IEDC’s communication lists, ensuring a broad audience and compliance with applicable privacy laws and vendor terms of service. The Marketing Associate is also responsible for the IEDC media relations portfolio, maintaining a current list of media contacts and producing timely press releases related to IEDC’s work. The Marketing Associate also supports conference scripting, talking points, and speech writing for IEDC’s senior leadership. This position reports to the Vice President of Policy, Programs & Communications.
This position is eligible to be located outside commuting distance of IEDC’s Washington, DC, office, and applicants from throughout the United States are encouraged to apply. Areas of Responsibility
To include, but not limited to:
  • In collaboration with content owners, schedule, create and deliver daily email marketing messages that effectively promote IEDC products, services and thought leadership.
  • In collaboration with the Vice President, develop and implement advanced email marketing strategies that utilize our extensive library of data to better target, segment, and personalize our messaging.
  • In collaboration with the Communications team and the Membership team, regularly update, test and monitor the primary email distribution list.
  • In collaboration with the Vice President, develop and implement a strategy that promotes the growth of IEDC’s audience.
  • Act as the primary owner of IEDC’s email service provider platform; ensure the platform is functioning at the highest possible potential, utilizing the most current data and contact lists possible.
  • In collaboration with marketing colleagues, work with media contacts and partners to deliver effective marketing messages through partner channels. Manage media partner agreements communicating with both the internal stakeholders and partners to make sure obligations are met.
  • In collaboration with content owners, schedule, create and deliver press releases that effectively promote IEDC products, services, thought leadership and achievements.
  • Coordinate media relations, including interview requests and preparation, potential outlets and pitch materials, and resources for media attending IEDC events.
  • Draft and edit scripts for conferences, as well as talking points and speeches for IEDC’s senior leadership team and members of the Board of Directors.
  • Implement, maintain and enforce IEDC’s brand and style guidelines across all communications channels and ensuring guidelines are followed across the organization.
  • Monitor and provide regular metric reports related to IEDC’s email, media engagement, and audiences.

  • Effectively communicate with colleagues across other departments to align your work with the overall goals of the organization.
  • Play a key role in achieving and surpassing revenue and registration goals.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in marketing, communications or public relations with demonstrated success, preferably in the not-for-profit or association sector.
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, public relations or related field or 4 years of equivalent experience in marketing, communications, or public relations.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and execution of marketing, communications and public relations activities.
  • Experience overseeing the production of content for electronic marketing materials and publications.
  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience in tracking email data, formulating reports and conducting A/B testing.
  • Demonstrated experience writing press releases and collaborating with media.
  • Computer literacy in word processing, page layout, social media and email marketing.
  • Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, with experience developing and adhering to a common voice for an organization.
  • Experience drafting and editing talking points and/or speeches or similar experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time, ideally within a high-volume production environment.
  • Infrequent out-of-town, overnight travel may be required.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Familiarity or experience working with HubSpot, Airtable, iMIS, and Accrisoft.
Physical Requirements
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continually required to sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; talk or hear.  Rarely required to stand or walk for long hours.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, and reach with hands and arms.  Rarely required to kneel, crouch or crawl, climb or balance. Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 20 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
